Tafadzwa Ziyenge
Head Coach

After being named the Gulf South Conference men’s soccer coach of the year this past season, Tafadzwa Ziyenge was named the head women’s soccer coach for Arkansas State in 2010. Ziyenge becomes just the fourth women’s soccer coach in program history.

Ziyenge joined the Red Wolves after reviving both the men’s and women’s teams at Alabama-Huntsville, holding a 96-90-6 career record on the women’s side, advancing to the semifinals of the GSC tournament on five occasions, and achieving a top-10 regional ranking this past season.

Under Ziyenge’s direction, the Chargers women’s team posted a 9-7-0 record and a 4-3 GSC record in 2009.

In 2009, Zyienge directed the men’s program at UAH to the conference tournament finals and a no. 6 regional ranking while achieving a 6-7-4 GSC record.

Ziyenge also has coaching experience on the club level, coaching the Fernbelt FC Boys team during the 1994-95 seasons.

“Tafadzwa is highly respected by his peers within his profession,” said Dr. Dean Lee, ASU Director of Athletics. “He is very passionate about the game and loves the game, which is very evident.  He has a great work ethic and tremendous character, integrity and knowledge about the game.”

During his playing career at Alabama-Huntsville, Ziyenge collected a slew of individual awards, including being named conference MVP. He was the top goals scorer in the league while earning all-conference and all-region honors. Ziyenge also earned conference tournament MVP honors and was named the Mayor’s Cup MVP.

After earning his bachelor of science in business administration from UAH, Ziyenge continued his playing career with the Huntsville Fire of the Eastern Indoor Soccer League from 1997-98 before joining the Tennessee Rhythm of the USL Professional A-League for the 1999 and 2000 seasons.

Ziyenge who is a regional Olympic Development coach holds a USSF C License.
